Want to get first-hand experience of studying the history of the Russian Empire without crossing the US border? The Program in Russian, East European and Eurasian studies is sponsoring a trip to Alaska that offers a unique opportunity of visiting “Russian America”; exploring historical sites that preserve the traces of Russian presence and studying the indigenous cultures of Alaska.
 
After arrival in Anchorage, students will visit the Kodiak Island, Sitka, and Juneau. Students will tour national parks, Orthodox monasteries, and museums, meet local historians and guides.
