AmaDema is an SME company based in the sunny island of Cyprus, in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea that focuses on the enhancement of technical fabrics and prepregs to be used in fiber reinforced composites. Overall, AmaDema deals with the design and manufacturing of advanced composite materials, by identifying the problems and needs of customers in a variety of industries such as aviation, defence, sports, automotive, shipping etc. and then providing them with a variety of material services and product solutions in the field of materials. Products such as drone structures and satellite frames have been currently developed. Its patented spearhead technology, NanoWeld®, enhances the mechanical performance of commercially available technical fabrics, such as carbon, with the use of reinforced nanofibers by creating a scaled geometry from lamina to lamina increasing the performance of polymer composite multilayer structures. At the moment, AmaDema is working on different EU projects and is developing composite components for the European Space Agency (ESA).
1. Production and Manufacturing Intern
The intern will have the choice to work in various projects: in designing experimental procedures using available and outsourced technical equipment, in performing experimental testing using the available equipment, in manufacturing process operation and set up, and or contribute in operate and maintenance of technical equipment. Overall, the intern will assist in the fabrication of different kind of composite parts, with methods such as hand lay-up and/or autoclave, as well as the production of the innovative textile enhancement products that AmaDema developed.
Candidates under the following disciplines, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering, practicality in hands-on work, enthusiastic and creative with a practical mind and doer approach in order to work on production development, are encouraged to apply.
2. Design Intern
The intern will have the choice to assist in various projects: designing experimental procedures using available and outsourced technical equipment, in developing and performing CAD analytical drawings, and in designing of production line – technology scale up. Overall the intern will work in designing different mechanical parts of a specific machinery and/or run simulations using modelling programs such as Solidworks.
Candidates under the following disciplines: Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with SolidWorks knowledge, enthusiastic and creative with a practical mind and doer approach in order to work in the design development, are encouraged to apply.
This internship is offered in collaboration with Empiria Learning, and may be offered in a remote capacity, if needed.
