Organization Overview
Fundación Catalina Muñoz constructs housing for families in extreme poverty. The organization's main goal is to contribute to the reduction of the housing deficit in Colombia, and to improve housing. In the past 11 years, the people connected with the organization have constructed more than 2,800 homes; they have worked with individuals, families and community groups, and they have managed social programs to improve Public Spaces. Fundación Catalina Muñoz recently launched a new Eco-spaces Project to emphasize agricultural production within Urban environments. These construction projects are undertaken with a strong social dimension. The organization boasts and excellent team with flexible hours. IIP interns will have the opportunity to participate in construction projects on weekends.

Intern Responsibilities:

1. Technical Intern

The IIP intern will support the Technical team. This will involve activities including, but not limited to:
  • Support the technical team in the design, conceptual design, and model making of housing for the communities
  • Use programs similar to AutoCAD, PhotoScan, Revit, Rhino and Adobe Creative Apps
  • Facilitate discussions with special interest groups & key stakeholders
  • Assist in preparation of design presentations
  • Collaborate with colleagues on projects
  • Ensure project delivery and quality control throughout
  • Analyse strategies that help use to full capacity the materials used in the construction of housing for energetic and climatic sustainability

  • Spanish (Lower-intermediate level) 
  • English (Advanced level)
  • Proactive and diligent in their work
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient
  • Pay careful attention to detail
  • Cultural emotional intelligence
  • Communicative within a team/works well in a diverse team
  • Willingness and attitude to learn new things and contribute their knowledge

2. Community Outreach Intern
The IIP intern will support the community outreach team. This will involve activities including, but not limited to:
  • Cultivate strong community relationships with beneficiaries of the organisation
  • Work alongside communities to help build new houses and improve public places
  • Accompany community visits to meet with families and volunteer coordination
  • Assist in office administration
  • Assist in managing the coordination of volunteers for construction projects across Colombia
  • Manage and update volunteer databases
 These tasks will be assigned as needed and to match the intern’s interests and background.
