Organization Overview
Alzheimer Hellas was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization. The Society was accepted as a member of Alzheimer's disease International (ADI) in 1996 and as a member of Alzheimer Europe (AE) in 1997. Professor Magdalini Tsolaki, Vice-President of the Association, is the President of the Panhellenic Federation of Alzheimer's Disease and Relative Disorders.
The Association is responsible for the operation of the Day Centres for Alzheimer’s disease “Saint Helen”, established in 2007 and “Saint Ioannis” established in 2009 in Thessaloniki. It is estimated that approximately 1,500,000 people live in the Municipality of Thessaloniki. Among them, about 21,000 of them suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and other related disorders. Throughout our country the patients with Alzheimer are estimated around 197,000. Approximately 101,670 visits of patients and caregivers took place in our two Day Care Centres in 2017, and  128,000 visits in 2018.

Intern Responsibilities:

Alzheimer Hellas approach is to involve the IIP intern in all work processes and treat them as an integral part of the Association, where they will have the chance to learn and acquire various skills as well as to contribute to the Association's work. The intern will be involved in all aspects of the administrative work and implementation process and will gain an invaluable experience of the workings of the world of philanthropy, both in Greece and Cyprus, in all program areas. The internship will include a series of visits to the University campus  in order to experience firsthand the value and impact of some of the Foundation's most important collaborations. Alzheimer Hellas also collaborates with Department of Electronics Engineering, Chemistry, Geo-information, Psychology and Laboratory of Neurodegenerative diseases. IIP interns will have the opportunity to discuss with the administrative departments of all these Schools.
