The Intercept Brasil

Organization Overview
The Intercept is an award-winning news organization dedicated to holding the powerful accountable through fearless, adversarial journalism. Its in-depth investigations and unflinching analysis focus on politics, war, surveillance, corruption, the environment, technology, criminal justice, the media, and more. The Intercept gives its journalists the editorial freedom and legal support they need to expose corruption and injustice wherever they find it.

Intern Responsibilities:

​1. Research Intern

The position is crucial for the organization’s sustainability and its commitment to provide independent media coverage. The IIP intern will be expected to:
  • Research and evaluate the performance of The Intercept Brazil Membership Program, which will result in a report with findings and recommendations;
  • Conduct research on examples of membership program models that have worked in the US and in other Latin American countries;
  • Analyze how these compare to and differ from The Intercept Brasil model. 
  • Make recommendations of growth or improvement in marketing, data and targeting for The Intercept Brasil.
  • Willingness to travel within the country.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced Portuguese (spiking/writing) is required.
  • The organization seeks a proactive student with critical thinking skills, active listening skills, outstanding research skills, operation analysis skills, and strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong interest in journalism and/or mass communications preferred. 

2. Video Intern
The IIP intern will be expected to work in the following areas:
  • Image/video segment
  • Video recording and editing
  • Data/materials cataloging: Raw material organization and filling

Qualifications:
  • Advanced Portuguese (written/spoken) is required. 
  • The organization seeks a proactive student with critical thinking skills. 
  • Must be familiar and have fair knowledge of Adobe Suite. 
  • Should be familiar on how to operate a camera. ​
  • Willingness to travel within the country.

This placement is offered in collaboration with Veredas Institute.
