Organization Overview
The Centro Latinoamericano de Derechos Humanos (CLADH) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that works in the promotion and protection of human rights throughout Latin America, seeking to create a culture based on unrestricted respect for the fundamental rights of people.  Through its work for the defense of human rights, CLADH denounces violations of fundamental rights, presents legislative and public policy proposals, and promotes litigation both nationally and internationally. The IIP intern will work in Research & Analysis, Communications & Social Media and/or Fundraising.  

Intern Responsibilities:

1. Research and Analysis Intern
The IIP intern will assist lawyers in cases of national and international strategic litigation and will also have the possibility of being part of research projects and collaborating in the public relations department of ​​the foundation. CLADH research work is carried out in an interdisciplinary manner; CLADH links human rights with the economy, sociology, and politics, focusing on the person. The internship alternates tasks with training spaces, where interns can talk with professionals in the world of human rights, and learn from their experiences and advice. This is  a unique opportunity to get involved in the world of human rights in the Latin American region, which offers privileged spaces for participation and learning.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be proactive, with an interest in the areas of ​​human rights and international litigation. The tasks to be performed require the ability to write, research, and develop projects.
Minimum Spanish level required: Advanced


2. Communications and Social Media Intern
The IIP intern will be in charge of creating, introducing, and leading the center’s strategy for social media and for communications. In the world of human rights, it is essential to have communication strategies that make cases visible and generate social support.  In this aspect, the IIP intern will develop and execute campaigns referring to the cases that CLADH is working on in international instances. The intern will be able to devise the process of growth in the communities and establish the actions that must be carried out on each of the social networks.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, with an interest in the area of ​​communications and network management. The tasks to be performed require the ability to write, design, and develop communication strategies.
Minimum Spanish level required: Advanced

3. Fundraising Intern
The IIP intern will be responsible for directing and coordinating the implementation of fundraising campaigns in order to ensure adequate funding for the center. The projects carried out by CLADH aim to generate structural changes in Latin American countries and require many and varied resources. In addition, the intern will have the mission of improving the maintenance and exploitation procedures of the fundraising database in order to increase both the number of existing collaborators and the amount of their financial contributions.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, with an interest in the areas of ​​fundraising and resource management. The tasks to be performed require strategic vision, innovation, and capacity to develop fundraising strategies.
Minimum Spanish level required: Advanced


This internship is offered in collaboration with Puentes Abroad. In the internship through Puentes, interns will undertake project-based work that is designed to directly contribute to one of the internship site’s key work areas so that they gain real experience and know-how through substantial, mission-driven work. The internships are overseen by Puentes and are complemented by homestay housing.
