Organization Overview
DonaBeia is a small beekeeping business. Working with bees and stingless bees, the main activity of the business is honey production and sale. The goal of the company is to offer an exceptional experience of honey consumption to its customers by offering physical, chemical, and especially sensorial analysis of its products.

Intern Responsibilities:

Beekeeping and Stingless Beekeeping Assistant
Bees are one of the most important pollinators worldwide. Apiculture and meliponiculture have social and economic importance, allowing for the production and commercialization of honey, propolis, pollen, and other bee products. They also have an environmental importance, since bees contributes to the pollination of several native plants. The IIP intern is expected to work on both indoor and outdoor activities. The responsibilities are related to apiary and sting-less bee yard management (maintaining the colonies); general equipment inspection and preparation; honey harvesting and bottling; swarm removal (including wasps); participating in the organization of workshops and lectures. Possibility of traveling to nearby cities and rural properties, always with direct supervision.

Qualifications:
We expect that the interns are interested in learning or currently has basic entomology and/or beekeeping knowledge; has an interest in environmental issues such as bee fauna preservation; and it is willing to do hands-on work as well as fieldwork.
Basic Portuguese language skills required.

This placement is offered in collaboration with Veredas Institute.
