Alto Peru

Lima, Peru

About: Emzingo U's Global Impact Fellowship is a leadership and social impact program where students consult for nonprofits and social enterprises while undergoing an intensive leadership and personal development curriculum. Global Impact fellows in Peru will be placed into teams of 3 or 4 students to assist nonprofits and social impact startups solve a key strategic challenge, implement new programs, or conduct research. Emzingo U will assist fellows to design and oversee the development of their projects, and each team will also be paired to a project mentor with significant relevant knowledge in the field. Projects touch a wide range of topics from health to education to economic empowerment.
IIP interns will act as consultant on behalf of Emzingo U and will have the opportunity to be paired with Alto Peru, a social enterprise that, through sports and culture, seeks the personal growth of girls and boys in low income areas where poverty and violence are pervasive, strengthening the potential for social change.
Intern Responsibilities (sample project from last year): The interns will assist the organization with exploring different paths to promote its sustainability. The interns will identify the different streams and opportunities with the most potential for the organization sustainability, and develop them. This includes identifying proper key performance indicators, looking at foundation and donor relationship management and perform a cost-benefit analysis of the offering of the organization. The interns will also look at how to improve the sales of products and services offered to current and potential clients (including team-building workshops and corporate events) (
Qualifications: Interning at this company is a good opportunity for students who are interested in gaining experience in NGO management and social empowerment. The organization seeks a highly-organized student with critical thinking, active listening skills, empathy, creative and strategic thinking.  No specific academic background is required, but a background in business or social sciences will be considered an asset.
