Program Description:
Alto Peru

Organization Overview
Alto Peru is a social enterprise that uses sports, education and urban interventions as tools for community development. They seek the personal growth of girls and boys, strengthening their potential for social change. Proyecto Alto Peru is located and operates in the neighborhood of Alto Peru in the district of Chorrillos, Lima, a low income area where poverty and violence are pervasive and kids grow up playing in its hostile streets.
Emzingo's leadership and social impact program allows students to consult for nonprofits and social enterprises while undergoing an intensive leadership and personal development curriculum. IIP interns in Peru will be placed into teams of 3 or 4 interns to assist with current projects, implement new programs, or conduct research. Emzingo will assist interns to design and oversee the development of their projects, and each team will also be paired to a project mentor with significant relevant knowledge in the field. Projects touch a wide range of topics from health to education to economic empowerment.

IIP interns will act as consultant on behalf of Emzingo and will have the opportunity to be paired with Alto Peru.

Intern Responsibilities:

Alto Peru has two focuses in 2020 to achieve its self-sustainability: Fundraising and Donor Engagement.
To achieve this, they need to develop:
  • Marketing strategy of the system of recurring donations that will be implemented in 2020.
  • Communication and marketing strategy of Alto Peru as a community social innovation laboratory (consultancies for the private sector).
  • Communication and marketing strategy of Alto Peru as a tourist destination.
Qualifications:
Interning at this organization is an opportunity for candidates who are interested in gaining experience in NGO management and social empowerment. The organization seeks a highly-organized candidate with critical thinking, active listening skills, empathy, creative and strategic thinking. No specific academic background is required, but a background in business or social sciences will be considered an asset. The candidate must be comfortable in a culturally diverse setting, able to navigate uncertainty and want to make a difference.

This Internship is offered in collaboration with Emzingo
