About: Emzingo's Global Impact Fellowship is a leadership and social impact program where students consult for nonprofits and social enterprises while undergoing an intensive leadership and personal development curriculum. Global Impact fellows in Peru will be placed into teams of 3 or 4 students to assist nonprofits and social impact startups solve a key strategic challenge, implement new programs, or conduct research. Emzingo will assist fellows to design and oversee the development of their projects, and each team will also be paired to a project mentor with significant relevant knowledge in the field. Projects touch a wide range of topics from health to education to economic empowerment.
IIP interns will act as consultant on behalf of Emzingo and will have the opportunity to be paired with Kantaya, a non-profit organization that transform lives through quality education, fostering creativity and values in vulnerable children.
Intern Responsibilities: Kantaya is working on two initiatives to help the organization become self-sustainable. They need help with either one to better understand the market, the competitors, the challenges and opportunities that each initiative represents. The interns will be tasked with one of the two initiatives:
Project 1: Komparte
A social company that sells products (notebook, binders etc…) to support Kantaya’s children and connect them to a social community. They want to improve their operations and strategy and plan to do a small scale launch in the next months.
Project 2: Reto Kantaya
A program to sell to private schools that empowers their students to encourage them to believe in themselves and to help develop empathy in the future leaders of Peru, the plan has four steps: experience, reflection, empowerment and sharing with Kantaya’s beneficiaries (http://www.kantayaperu.com/).
Qualifications: Interning at this company is a good opportunity for students who are interested in gaining experience in business development, social impact and education. The organization seeks a highly-organized student with critical thinking, active listening skills, operation analysis, strong strategic thinking. No specific academic background is required, but programming skills will be an asset. The student must be comfortable in a culturally diverse setting and want to make a difference.
This internship is offered in collaboration with Emzingo
