Matriarca (IIP-IN Argentina, Puentes Abroad)
About: Matriarca is a social business cooperative of individuals and organizations that aspire to develop systems of sustainable production and consumption. It is composed of artisans, designers, investors, and consumers who work together to create sustainable value chains. This is accomplished through the commercialization and the upselling of traditional products from under-resourced indigenous regions. By respecting ancestral knowledge, using genuine raw materials in a sustainable manner for the environment, and creating scalable methodology, they are successfully adding value to cultural assets, thereby encouraging local development in a socially, culturally and environmentally responsible manner.
Intern Responsibilities: IIP interns will work in the Buenos Aires office with the small team of dedicated, passionate women who also serve as excellent mentors. Placements are available in the areas of communications, product development and business development.
- Communications: The IIP intern may work in communications, with a focus on attracting new clients and partners through social media and website content.
- Product Development: The IIP intern can also focus on product development and have the chance to work with Argentine designers to create new product packaging and to improve the production and inventory system.
- Business Development: The IIP intern can collaborate in business development by conceptualizing and preparing proposals for partnerships and retail outreach in Argentina and abroad, as well as by analyzing best practices in the artisanal market for indigenous products.
Qualifications: IIP interns with interests in social business, sustainable entrepreneurship, indigenous groups, women’s rights, design, and marketing and encouraged to apply. An open mindset and an entrepreneurial perspective are great assets for our team. Verbal and written Spanish proficiency are required, and advanced Spanish is preferred.
