About: China Market Research Group (CMR) provides strategic market intelligence to companies entering or expanding operations in China. CMR helps companies get the information needed to make smarter decisions in China. Using sophisticated methodologies, our team of analysts conducts customized, objective, and discreet research to help multinational and domestic Chinese companies understand how to seize advantage of the fastest growing economy in the world with actionable initiatives. Its clients come from a variety of industries and range from Fortune 500 companies, SMEs, hedge funds and private equity firms. CMR practices in the following sectors: consumer electronics, retail, health and beauty care, travel and leisure, financial services, food and beverage, education, chemicals, and autos. CMR has functional expertise in branding, consumer insights, e-commerce, marketing and sales, mergers and acquisitions, product innovation and strategy.

Intern responsibilities: IIP interns will work on projects that include: include due diligence work for Private Equity firms, Mutual Funds, and Hedge Funds, and research and strategy for luxury brands, apparel brands, e-commerce platforms. Past interns have worked on the following projects:
-Market entry strategy and product development for world’s largest packaged seafood company
-Consumer insights and retail strategy for top global luxury brand
-Sales strategy for international defense products company selling to the Chinese government
-Development of new major and recruitment strategy for US University with new campus based in China
-Quarterly evaluation of China auto market for world’s largest mutual fund company.

Qualifications: Candidates should have strong oral Mandarin skills (written Mandarin skills ideal). Familiarity with statistics and data analysis is appreciated. Candidates from all majors and areas of academic interest welcome; skills in MS Powerpoint, MSExcel, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign would be an asset.
