Union Internationale des Avocats

Organization Overview
The Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA – International Association of Lawyers) was created in 1927 and is the oldest professional association, with several thousand individual members as well as more than 200 collective members comprised of bar associations, organizations or federations (representing nearly two million lawyers) from over 110 countries. UIA, as a global and multi-cultural legal organization, facilitates professional development and international exchange of information and ideas, promotes the rule of law, defends the independence and freedom of lawyers worldwide, and emphasizes friendship, collegiality and networking among members.The association works in three languages: English, French, and Spanish.

Intern Responsibilities:

1. Communication and Digital Strategy Intern
IIP intern tasks will include: 
  • Web site
    • Proposition of contents for the Website
    • Proofreading of the English version of the new Website 
  • Communication
    • Community Management for social networks
    • Preparation and proofreading of the congress newsletters
    • Research for the English-speaking media database
    • Help with the implementation of the communication plan 
  • Congress main themes
    • Prepare some support documents for the Luxembourg congress sessions (topic to be chosen)
    • Write an article on one of the topics for our magazine Juriste International
    • Research useful contacts related to the themes in order to promote the event (Internet / LinkedIn / Twitter, etc.) 
  • Law internship
    • Contacts with the universities which already have a MOU with the UIA 
  • Proofreading in English
    • Human Rights and Protection of Lawyers documents
    • Seminar programs
    • Juriste International (quarterly magazine) 

Qualifications:
UIA is looking for motivated, dynamic, flexible and internationally minded IIP candidates. Fluency in French is preferred and additional fluency in Spanish would be a definite plus. Excellent writing skills, creativity, ability to work on multiple project simultaneously, and a good knowledge of social networks management are preferred. 


2. Development and Partnership Intern
IIP intern responsibilities include:
  • Membership strategy
    • Do some informal benchmarking on what other similar associations propose
    • Set up the basis for a loyalty building policy for members through a video campaign and a satisfaction questionnaire
    • Devise the new sales campaign for the 2021 annual directory (hardcopy and on line)
    • Review and revamp the presentation texts for member recruitment
    • Assist the strategy implementation plan for collective members
    • Assist with the promotion of the new package for law firms (UIAdvance)
    • Help develop the geographical strategy programme
    • Follow up with National Representatives for recruitment 
  • Fundraising
    • Research on potential sponsors for the congresses of Guadalajara and Dakar
    • Research on what the UIA competitors are doing in terms of fundraising
    • Assist with the sponsorship brochure for the 2021 UIA congress + general UIA sponsorship brochure 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Help with translation and proofreading in English
    • Assist with general office organization if necessary 

Qualifications:
