The fees and expenses listed here are for Spring Semester 2019. Please note that the "internal" column is for Princeton students and the "external" column is for Columbia students.

Tuition - billed by Princeton (only for Princeton students)- Tuition rate for one semester at Princeton.

Tuition - billed by Columbia (only for Columbia students)- Estimated—please check with Columbia’s Student Financial Services Office. 

Program Fee - billed by Princeton- includes room and board in Kenya for the duration of the semester (except during spring break--see below for additional costs for that period of time). For seniors returning to Princeton, the program fee is $4287.50.

Housing - billed by Princeton (for Princeton students returning to campus only): For juniors: $795 for 3 weeks of on-campus housing during May, upon returning from the program. For seniors: $2650 for 10 weeks of on-campus housing. 

Meals - billed by Princeton (for Princeton students returning to campus only)- For juniors: Covers meals in May at Princeton and includes the cost of a full meal plan. Note that the meals cost will be lower if you opt for a 95 Block meal plan ($344).For seniors: $1590 for full meal plan; $990 if you choose Block 95. 

Housing - billed by Provider (during spring break) -- to be paid on-site. $600 for room and board during spring break (all students). All students, both internal and external, will be paying the $600 spring break housing fee on-site directly to the tour agency organizing the spring break trip. Students will be able to withdraw cash when on-site to pay for this out-of-pocket expense. 

Airfare (billed by Princeton)- Please note this is an estimated flight cost, and is subject to change. Students will be traveling as a group (unless alternative travel plans are made, with the permission of the program coordinator/leader), and the airfare will be billed by Princeton.

Personal expenses (estimated): Includes personal items, toiletries, tips for staff at Mpala ($100), etc.

Mandatory vaccinations - Estimate for Columbia students and those Princeton students not on the Student Health Plan. For those students on the Princeton SHP, please note that all vaccinations will be covered at McCosh. 

Other expenses - Includes optional rabies vaccination ($900), malaria medication (up to $200), and field equipment ($100).
