Program Description:
Zaytawun Monastic School
Zay Ta Wun School is the elementary/middle school at the Zay Ta Wun Monastery, founded in 2006 by the Buddhist monk Baddanta Ar Deik Sa. The mission of the school is to educate children who have lack educational opportunities. At the time of foundation, there were only 46 students and 3 teachers, but the school has grown larger since then and continues to grow. Today the school has 365 students and 14 teachers, including the head monk, who teaches moral education to the students. The Zaytawun Monastic School provides not only curriculum education but also a strong ethical and moral foundation for all students attending. IIP interns will work with a translator, an assistant teacher who works at the school, and the main English teacher.

Intern Responsibilities: IIP interns will teach English, Mathematics, PE and/or Drawing to students in grades 3-7 and create lesson plans. The interns will be working with a translator and fellow teachers to teach the students.

Qualifications: IIP candidates with interest in teaching English, Mathematics, Physical Education, and Art are encouraged to apply. Teaching experience would be an asset but is not required.
