  • < >The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) is the leading international business association in Singapore, with over 5,000 members representing more than 750 companies. American companies’ direct investment in Singapore exceeds an estimated US$258.9 billion.
    AmCham is a forward-thinking, business-progressive association. Our mission is to create value for our members by providing advocacy, business insights, and connections. Our membership includes American companies and Singaporean and third-country companies with significant U.S. business interests. AmCham is an independent, non-partisan business organization. We are a member of the 30-chamber-strong Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC).
    Our goal is to provide the information and facilitate the access and connections that give members insight into the local, regional, and global operating environment, enhance their professional capabilities, and enable them to make well informed business decisions.
  • Intern Responsibilities:
    • Project 1: ?
      • ABOS is AmCham’s flagship publication and is produced jointly with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The report comprises data collected from a survey of AmCham members from all ten ASEAN countries. It is produced in advance of the ASEAN Economic Ministers meeting. ABOS is widely read by government and business leaders across ASEAN. The intern will:
        • Be responsible for a range of tasks related to the project including analyzing data, preparing tables and charts, drafting content, and editing the report.
        • Have the opportunity to provide design suggestions for the publication and create infographics to communicate insights and promote the findings on social media.
        • Prepare PowerPoint presentations to present the findings to government officials.
        • Support other departmental and inter-departmental initiatives of the Chamber as required.
    • Project 2: Government Affairs Intern
      • The intern will:
        • Support non-quantitative aspects of the ASEAN Business Outlook Survey by drafting content, coordinating with other stakeholders in the region, and editing the report.
        • Work with the team to edit documents produced by U.S. Commercial Service offices across ASEAN and support other aspects of the publication process for Crossroads: doing Business in Singapore & Southeast Asia, an annual publication published by AmCham and the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. This publication is used by business leaders to learn about the business climate in Singapore and the region.
        • Support other departmental and inter-departmental initiatives of the Chamber as required.
    • Project 3: Public Affairs Intern
      • The intern will:
        • Monitor news (online & offline) media channels and compile relevant press coverage based on specific GPA projects.
        • Support the drafting of press releases, media statements, spokesperson messaging, media pitch development, and support any other request in relation to AmCham’s external communications.
        • Support the launch of the ASEAN Business Outlook Survey press conference.
        • Support the drafting and development of various ASEAN Business Outlook survey materials and content.
        • Perform research and analysis on trends about the American business community, trade, and business movements in ASEAN (local insight generation).
        • Perform research and analysis about CSR landscape in Singapore.
        • Assist in the writing of monthly article contributions in the Singapore American Newspaper (SAN).
        • Support the update and maintenance of AmCham’s local and regional media database.
        • Support the development of CSR database in Singapore.
        • Support other departmental and inter-departmental initiatives of the Chamber as required.
    • Project 4: Creative Storytelling Intern
      • The intern will:
        • Assist with generating creative and smart design concepts for membership materials and corporate branding materials.
        • Explore and investigate the full potential of ideas (words, pictures, infographics, etc.).
        • Ideate and write copy for marketing collaterals, social media content, digital advertising, newsletter.
        • Create graphics and design layouts used on AmCham’s social media platforms.
        • Support the development of the AmCham Branding Style guide.
    • Project 5: Business Development Intern
      • The intern will:
        • Support membership recruitment efforts, including searching for new market opportunities, flagging passive partners and conducting research on US businesses based in Singapore.
        • Assist with membership and marketing lead generation and qualification of prospects.
        • Organize and maintain reports and tracking forms related to the communication of prospecting efforts.
        • Draft contracts/agreements as necessary.
        • Create Sales tools (coordinating with the Member Relations Manager and technical support).
        • Other activities to encourage learning and career development processes, as agreed by intern and supervisor.
    • Project 6: Marketing Intern
      • The intern will:
        • Draft contracts/agreements as necessary.
        • Identify themes and stories for weekly web content and draft weekly web content and post content as needed.
        • Participate in social media campaigns.
        • Monitor member behavior/feedback on social media.
        • Create Marketing tools (coordinating with the Marketing Manager and technical support).
        • Participate in other activities to encourage learning and career development processes, as agreed by the intern and supervisor.
    • Project 7: Branding Intern
      • The intern will:
        • Work with the membership and marketing team on conceptualizing and creatively designing sales, marketing kits and collaterals.
        • Draft contracts/agreements as necessary.
        • Participate in social media campaigns.
        • Create Marketing & Sales tools (coordinating with the relevant Managers and technical support).
        • Participate in other activities to encourage learning and career development processes, as agreed by the intern and supervisor.
  • Intern Qualifications:
    • Specific qualifications depend on each position, but IIP candidates with interests in communication, trade, commerce and economic development are encouraged to apply. Fluency in English is required.
