Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs

Organization Overview
The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) is a nonprofit research institute based in Malaysia dedicated to promoting solutions to public policy challenges. IDEAS' vision is: "A Malaysia that upholds the principles of liberty and Justice." IDEAS' mission is to improve the level of understanding and acceptance of public policies based on the principles of rule of law, limited government, free markets, and free individuals. IDEAS' work is independent of vested interests and partisan influences. IDEAS acts as an intellectual center creating space for principles-centric and result-oriented dialogue. IDEAS achieves this by publishing cutting-edge research work; initiating dialogues with governments, lawmakers, businesses and civil society; providing thought leadership; facilitating networking between like-minded individuals and by organizing educational programs.

IIP interns will have an opportunity to make a difference and contribute to the development of public policy in Malaysia. An internship at IDEAS will allow the intern to tackle real issues in policy areas spanning the full breadth of work. As an intern, they will have the opportunity to work alongside the experienced full-time staff in helping out in the day-to-day operations at a research institute. Interns are an integral part of the team. They take charge of tasks that support the organisation’s work and operations. Dedicated, resourceful and motivated individuals from various academic backgrounds are welcome to apply to the internship in the departments listed below.

1. Economics and Business Unit Intern
2. Democracy and Governance Unit Intern

Qualifications:
IIP candidates with interests in economics, public policy, social policy, governance, and democracy are encouraged to apply. Malay language skills would be an asset but are not required. Sophomores and Juniors are encouraged to apply.
