Organization Overview

After the first Kathmandu Arts Festival in 2009, the Siddhartha Arts Foundation (SAF) was founded in 2011 with the mission to promote and develop Nepali arts and culture. Since then, SAF hosted the 2012 Kathmandu Arts Festival and the 2017 Kathmandu Triennale, and currently runs an education initiative training art managers, curators, and critics to build and support the growth of Nepali contemporary art practices. SAF also partnered with Artworks for Change (Oakland, California) to provide a platform for sex-trafficked and abused Nepali women to tell their stories. SAF is the most prominent leader in professional art management in Nepal.

Kathmandu Triennale 2020 is also announcing the initiation this November of a monthly discussion series on art history writing and archiving in Nepal, from the establishment of the Panchayat era until our current moment, in collaboration with the Martin Chautari independent research institute in Kathmandu, planned to continue until the Triennale. The programme will be one of the research instruments for the Triennale, alongside extensive curatorial work visits across Nepal’s regions and artists' residencies in Kathmandu throughout the upcoming year, among others.

Intern Responsibilities:

1. Grant Writing and Research Intern
The Kathmandu Triennale 2020 is Nepal’s premier international platform for contemporary arts. The Triennale will take place over the course of a month, and will feature educational outreach programs, residencies, performances symposia and exhibitions. IIP interns will be expected to research, write grants and proposals that will help generate funds for the implementation of the Triennale.

IIP candidates interested in research and grant writing with strong writing skills students studying anthropology, political science, literature and the arts are welcome to apply. Sophomores and Juniors are encouraged to apply. Interns will work closely with Chair of the Triennale Sangeeta Thapa and Director of the Triennale Sharareh Bajracharya. 

2. Educational / Community Outreach Intern
Preferred background in arts education and strong social skills - preferably someone who has worked with abroad with local communities. Ideal candidate has good writing skills, tech savvy and has a passion for arts education and can manage public art projects and discourse. Candidate will work closely with Srijanalaya a local arts education initiative that will manage the educational component of the exhibition and the outreach and community engagement.   

3. Website and Social Media Intern

IT and communications or journalism background. Should have web design, augmented reality, and knowledge of software used by museums or art institutions. Has the capacity to take photographs and knowledge on using various social media platforms- Facebook, Instagram, Youtube etc.. Candidate will be guided by Apoorva Srivasta, the Marketing Director of the Triennale. Sophomores and Juniors are encouraged to apply.

4. Marketing Intern
Interns with a background and interest in the arts, marketing and communications are encouraged to apply. Candidate should have strong writing skills, tech savy and knowledge of basic software, have technical skills in social media. Candidate will be guided by Apoorva Srivasta Marketing Director of the Triennale. Sophomores and Juniors are encouraged to apply. 

IIP interns with a background and interest in the arts, communication and/or marketing are encouraged to apply.
