About: Founded in 1993, the Phaung Daw Oo Monastic Education High School offers education to children who are otherwise denied access to even the most basic education services. Phaung Daw Oo Monastic Education High School is a non-governmental organization that specifically looks to help children from impoverished and disadvantaged families, as well as orphans and neglected and abused children from all different ethnicities of Myanmar. The school caters to about 7,000 children, with a staff of 412 teachers. The school manages small income generation activities such as carpentry, tailoring, offset printing, microcredit banking, and computer training.
Intern Responsibilities: The IIP interns will be able to choose to work on a variety of projects, including curriculum development for English or computer related classes, teaching staff English, and helping pre-college students with SAT preparation. There are also opportunities to work on other projects that are in the areas of tailoring, sewing and carpentry.
Qualifications: IIP candidates with interests in education are encouraged to apply. Teaching experience would be an asset.
